P Day fishing near Oak Grove, Mississippi

27 June 2016

Looks like Markee finally had the opportunity to actually fish (when she went with the Ishees they didn't end up fishing because it was too hot).  And she was successful! Dede Gara posted these pictures on the facebook page so I swiped them. :)

Dede Gara says, "She was SO funny! She did NOT want to hold it...it took a LOT of encouraging!"

I feel as though I have stepped into the fires of Mordor!

27 June 2016

Well I am so sorry I have been so sucky at writing in my journal this transfer, and I have been forgetting things. I will do my best.

It is heating up here! I thought it was hot before! HA!
I feel sweaty and gross all the time; it is just great!

This week Sister Williams and I have been focusing on finding new people to teach because...well... all of our investigators have lives. Or they have disappeared.... That happens.
We got out and tracted!

Our efforts were rewarded! Yay!
We met a nice couple named Marcus and Rochelle. They were very sweet and we taught them the Restoration and they accepted a Book of Mormon! They seemed excited to have it and read it too. I just love it when that happens!
Sadly we haven't seen them in awhile because they are vacationing in Kansas City, but they should be coming home soon! I hope that they will still want to learn because it's a family!

Okay, so even though the work with investigators have been quite slow this week, the work with recent convert/less actives have rocked!
First of all, one of our less active recent converts came to church first the first time since I have been here yesterday. We visited her on Tuesday and she said that she would come to church and SHE DID!
Second, this is truly a miracle! Joel gave a talk in Sacrament meeting!! It was really hard for him since he has COPD and emphysema, and it is really hard for him to breathe. It was so awesome to see him get up and give his talk! It really brought the Spirit! We are trying to get him to the temple so this was a big step for him! His strength is really coming back and it has been a real treat to see it first hand!

We had Zone Conference on Thursday, it was a really good one. Here is some notes from it.

I love y'all and thank you for all your support and love!

Please send letters; I want to know how y'all are doing!

the sky looked pretty so a took a picture. curtsy the end

We have a county. :)

DADGUMIT!

20 June 2016

Well this week was kind of really slow and my brain is very frazzled and I can't remember most things which happened this week. Partly because I don't sleep. Ever.
It is a problem.

I did talk to a few people which is really good.
NEW FRIENDS TO TEACH THE GOSPEL!!!!

Shoot I have got to take more note of things, and also take pictures.
Cause I practically have nothing to say!!

I would like y'all to know that I am letting go of my pride and let the South in!
The Ishees have already told me that my Southern has already slipped with them!
So I am just gonna let it!

The summer storms are here! Everyday this week there has been a crazy storm! They are so much fun!

Sorry for the lame email...I don't remember what happened this week, I ended up not fishing with the Ishees, I barely took any pictures (clearly), and some other excuse that I forgot....dadgumit!

I love yall!

Peter's mission call

16 June 2016

Peter received his mission call today and opened it as soon as Jared came home from work.  Both Markee and Marin were missing - Markee in Mississippi and Marin at girls camp.  You would think that Markee would be the last one to know, but, fortunately for her, that was not the case.  Markee has connected Doodle Ishee with Erik and Erik texted Doodle right away after Peter opened the call. Doodle had Markee coming over to her house this evening and was able to let her know and even videoed Markee's reaction and texted it to Erik.  I sure love this thing called technology!!!  Marin, on the other hand, is up in the mountains, totally out of cell phone coverage and won't hear the news until someone goes up to girls camp and lets her know.  If I can get Erik to send me the video of Markee, I will post it here.

MORMON MORMON MORMON

Okay well this week was....well not much happened but also a lot happened at the same time.

Actually I take that back there was only one thing noteworthy that happened.
That was we went to Girl's camp for a day!

We called President Olson for permission, we knew that Sister missionaries had been up before but that was with the mission president before President Olson so we weren't sure if it would be allowed.
Pres. said YES! As long as we taught a lesson.

We asked Bishop Green if it would be alright if we could take some time out of the devotional time to share a lesson about preparing for a mission if they decided that they wanted to serve one. He was more than happy to let us take as much time as we could!

So on Wednesday we went up to Girl's camp!....after zone training meeting.
We got there in time for dinner!
After that we went to their pavilion and watched their skits.
By the way, girl's camp here is way cooler! Okay they have a swimming pool, and a lake! They can wear shorts! and sandals! They are in cabins, but that makes sense because they would be eaten alive by bugs if they weren't! Oh it was so much fun and I watched their girl's camp movie because they actually have someone there filming the WHOLE thing, and it looked like fun!
Anyway, we watched they skits, and then split off into wards for the Bishop's devotionals.
That is where we taught the girls about preparing for a mission and everything like that!
It was fun!
After that we went to a little bit of testimony meeting before going home!

So that was pretty much all!
Oh I tried Salmon. It was pretty good.
I guess I eat fish now....
Also I am going fishing today with the Ishees so that will be fun! I am excited!!
I like the rain

Hattiesburg Stake Girls Camp 2016 Facebook surprises!

8 June 2016

How fun to receive notifications from Facebook informing me that I had been tagged in posts and finding these sweet surprises!

The very same day, Dede Gara, whom Markee mentions in her last letter, posted this:

How I love the modern technology that keeps me connected to my sweet missionary in Mississippi! And what wonderful people Markee has found herself among!

No title - Week 23

So guess what, some pretty awesome stuff went down here in Mississippi!

First off, Sis Williams and I are going to girl's camp.... it may be for only one day, but still!
We were really nervous about asking President Olson for permission but he seemed pretty excited about it by the end of the call!
So many memories at girls camp....

Also just in time for summer....our AC has been having a lot of issues.
We got it fixed, as of the moment, for right now but man! It was not very pleasant.
It is a problem if there is no difference between the outside hot and mugginess and the inside.
Luckily, we have had the car this week so we were encouraged to drive around in the car and visit people!
God works in mysterious ways...

I met JJ this week. He is Doodle and Sissy Ishee's dad. He is sassy. It's pretty awesome.
He isn't a member but he does come to church with his family. He are just waiting for him to want to be baptized because he already knows everything and believes it, there are just a few things that he doesn't want to let go of....

We set a baptism date for one of our investigators! Her name is Nadine and she is the mother of a member in the ward. That's pretty much all I know about her since I've only met her once. But she is set to be baptized on October 28th! Also her daughter, Leeana (the member's sister) is also going the be baptized on the same day! Whooo!

Where's Waldo?
We had exchanges on Saturday and I went and spent the day in Oak Grove with Sister Nash! It was a super awesome day! I dressed like Waldo.
A recent convert of 6 months, Dede, came out with us like ALL day then we went back to her house and her husband made a spaghetti! It was delicious!
Dede is awesome though! It's like she has been a member all her life! She was such a love for the gospel!
Sister Nash, me, and Dede!

Also Sis Nash is awesome! I love her! She is super fun and hilarious!
Sis Nash, get this, she was MTC companions with Sis Barney who is in El Dorado with Sis Olsen!
It all comes back to you Olsen! It's actually kind of creepy....

Sister Nash and I!
We had a couple less actives come to church and an investigator come. We even had Joel (a recent convert who has a lot of health issues) stay all 3 hours! That was a miracle!

Also I ate 'gator!!
So we went to a place called the Wharf for a RS activity. It was a seafood place so I was a bit apprehensive about it, but I figured that I have already had catfish, talapia, and shrimp and stuff that it will be fine.
When we got there and I was looking through the menu I saw that there was alligator poboy. So I was like, I am going to try that because I want to.
So I ordered it. and I enjoyed it.
Also a lady who was there had crawfish and so she cracked one open for me and had me try it. It wasn't bad but I like the alligator better.
'Gator just tastes like chicken like everyone says and the crawfish tasted like shrimp but it looked like brains....

Well I love you all!

May the force be with you!
Sissy Ishee decided to braid my hair.
The Ishees are awesome!
I love those girls!
