Some good drugs . . .

Hello Y'all!
I LIVE!
Well, how 'bout I just jump right into it, shall I....

Monday, we went to the church to hang out with the elders, but all they wanted to do was play basketball.
I wasn't up for that.....
Also met a guy that is translating the bible from Hebrew.
Ah Mississippi, you never fail to give us awkward moments

Tuesday, we went to visit Beth, but once we got there she said that she didn't feel up to a lesson that day.
But it's Beth.
So we stayed and talked with her for awhile.

After almost an hour we finally left and started walking home, but instead of walking on the busy main street we decided to walk by the beach! It was awesome at first.....but that ended pretty quickly.

Guys, humidity is not fun.

We called Lisa and she came and picked us up.
Guys, Lisa is awesome!
She also abhors it when we walk.

Wednesday, in the morning, we went with Sister Peine and did some service at Sister Dominey's apartment. I've never met Sister Dominey because she has been in the hospital....
After that Sis Conder and Sister Bennett came and drove us to my doctor's appointment.

Okay, now I know that y'all probs already know what is happening because of my mom, but in case you don't this is what is happening....
So we got x-rays and they showed that instead of having a slight curve (which is normal) my cervical vertebrae (neck) is straight, causing the muscles to spasm because it is having a hard time healing AND holding up my head. SO the Doctor (Dr Karpitskaya) prescribed me some drugs and told me to schedule a physical therapy evaluation. (so that's tomorrow)

Oh and we also got the car!!!

Thursday, we drove to Brandon. It took 3 HOURS!!! We had to get Satan....I mean a TiWi installed into a car. ;)
If you don't know what a TiWi is. A Tiwi is a box that sits in our car and monitors our speed and how we drive and stuff like that. They are actually a really good thing and I may consider putting one in my kids' cars....
to prepare them for their mission, but they could possibly have transporters or something by then which would make it worthless.

Anyway we spent most of our day driving to Brandon, hanging out at the mission office, and driving back from Brandon.

IT TOOK ALL DAY!!! but it was fun! I love road trippin'
just so you know Mississippi is the best place to have a zombie apocalypse.

Mission Office! I haven't been here for a LONG time!

Friday, we got the other car back and gave it to the Woolmarket Elders because we already had a car.
We saw Lisa that morning and read Mosiah 2 with her and talked about serving everyone.
Then we weekly planned....and I may have fallen asleep during that....the drugs make me way tired!
But I woke up eventually and went to visit one of our touch and go investigators.
His name is Shane. Shane is ..........different.....
He also has a lot of questions about the priesthood that we answer, but he doesn't accept them. I don't know why; probs because we aren't men and don't hold the priesthood.
So yeah.....we decided to hand him over to the Elders.

Saturday, we took pictures! (you're welcome, mom)

Traditional Olympics anklet! Probs not going to loose this one in the ocean....

Then we went to the Ocean Springs library and we helped people with their family history.
That was fun but I had no idea what I was doing.
Oh well! What else is new?!
Fake it 'til you make it!

Sunday, we did the usual. We sang in Ocean Spring's sacrament meeting for a mission farewell they were having.
After church we tried a couple of less actives and then we had dinner with the Gedges and the Davis'.

That's all!!

Keep being awesome my friends and remember don't take the shortest route....or Buffalo Hole Rd happens. Don't let Buffalo Hole Rd. happen.

22 August 2016

You're all gunna hate me.....
I don't remember what even happened this week...and I spaced and forgot my journal....not like that would have helped because I have been spacing that too.
My posterity are going to hate me.

Well on Monday we hung out at the church with the Elders and the Ocean Springs district and they played volleyball.

I did not join; I am pretty sure that would have killed me and probably injured me more. (You're welcome, mother)

Oh, we also went to Books a million but you can just assume we always go there.
and Hot Topic to see Vinny!

On Tuesday we went to the Coliseum for some service. That had a food something....? They had a whole bunch of food on display and stuff and then grocery people come in and choose what they want or something like that.
Well, we were in charge of tearing it down! It was fun!

(Don't worry Mom I didn't do anything stupid that would make me hurt worse)

On Wednesday we had district meeting and we met the new people! First off, we merged districts with the Ocean Springs district so now we have two more sets of missionaries in our district.
Goodness....
Top row left to right: Elder Hunt, Elder Ahanonu, Elder Scoresby (THE GREENIE), Elder Houston, Elder Roberts, Elder Bledsoe (Zone Leader), Elder Hughes, Elder Bennett (zone leader)
Bottom row left to right: Sister Steadman, Sister Lindburg, Elder Bingham, Elder Tenifa, ME, and Sister Rose!
We have a huge district!
Thursday was Peter's Birthday! I celebrated by going tracting and preaching the Word of God.

Happy Birthday Peter!

On Friday we weekly planned for a long time and then we went tracting, and funny story we found a back and neck care center on one of the streets we had planned to tract....if only we had found it earlier....

Saturday we went to try a recent convert who hasn't been to church for awhile. Her name is Christina and that's......about all I know about her.
She was't there.
She also lives FOREVER away and we still don't have a car so we walked there and back and so we rested after because I felt like I was going to keel over.

Sunday was weird.....
But we did have cool things happen! I think on Friday the Zone Leaders called us and told us that someone named Rosemary and Michael called them that day and told them that they wanted to go to church! They told them that they live in Biloxi which means we get them!!
Oh, and apparently Rosemary's mom is a recent convert in California and she had been to church before.
Also they were in a really bad car accident that should have been fatal but wasn't and are now on a search for God.
So they came to church!
Also Lisa came to church. She has been going through a hard time right now but she seemed to be a little lighter after Sacrament meeting.

Because of all the flooding in Baton Rouge a lot of our members went to help clean up there so we only had Sacrament meeting on Sunday.

We went to Bro Davis' house afterwards for correlation meeting, which we haven't been to in a long time because of the car situation, that was good though. Bro Davis is a good Ward Mission Leader.

Yep that was my week!

I wouldn't be surprised if I got Zika here..... (don't worry I invested in bug spray!) (Also all of those bites are gone)
Me and the Robinsons at the service project! (I love them!)

*snaps*

Last Monday consisted of a lot of rest after we walked to and from the library.  That is pretty much all that happened. I wasn't really up for anything else...

Tuesday: We had a service project! We went to a less active's apartment with her daughter and this lady has been in the hospital for months and she is now going into an assisted living place. This lady had so much Bishop Storehouse food saved up you would think she was preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse! Which we all know will be starting in the south.
Naturally we got all the food.... and a microwave for Beth because she needed one.

Wednesday: We had ZTM! We went up with the STLs because we still don't have a car.....
Then we went to Newk's (it's pretty much the Kneaders of the south)
Then we went to Sister's meeting.
At ZTM the STLs gave a lesson on talents and stuff and the ZLs had us play Jeopardy!
I have never laughed so hard in my life!!

Thursday: We had a miracle!
We were walking down the street and the ZLs drove up and we started to talk to them. We told them that we were going to go see Alyson, an investigator who is never home, so Elder Bennett said a prayer for us before we left and then we went to try Alyson.
She wasn't home.
So we started to tract.
We met a really nice agnostic/atheist lady who told us to try the next door, and so we did.
Guess who was there!
ALYSON!
It is her mother in law's house and her mother in law (Betty) is having a hard time right now. We prayed with them, then walked home.
It was a pretty good day.

Saturday: Miracle #2
We were walking, like missionaries do, and there was this lady that was walking in the opposite direction. We shouted "Hi How are you?" - because we are missionaries and are nosy like that -
and she said she was sad. :(
So we crossed the street and started talking to her.
She said she was sad because she didn't think that Heavenly Father was answering her prayers. She also said that her husband was progressing and she wasn't so she wants to ask for a divorce so that she doesn't hold him back. It was sad, but I think we talked her out of that.
We listened to her and then we told her that Heavenly Father loves her and isn't punishing her at all.
We read Jacob 5:21-22 and talked about how the Lord knows when we are in a tough situation but He asks us to hold out to the end.
Then we introduced the Book of Mormon to her and she accepted a copy and said she would read 3 Nephi 11!

She doesn't live in our area :( but hopefully we helped her.

8 August 2016

I am running short on time today because the library is busy today...so sorry about the short email.

Oh Congratulations to Piper! I am so happy for you! You made a good choice!
I love you!

Monday: I was at the church and while the Elders and Sister Rose played volleyball I sat and watched while nursing my aching neck.

Whiplash puts a damper on things....

Tuesday: We took our car to the Auto collision place because the car that we have been driving had been in an accident the transfer before.
So now Woolmarket Elders and us are both walking....
We walked around the rest of the day.
We went to Beth's and she was happy because she was baptized and stuff. She is funny.
Then we went to Tilly's and we just taught about Keeping the Sabbath day holy.
Her granddaughter, Elena, told us that she REALLY wants to be baptized, but we need parental consent because she is only 8.

Wednesday: I finally got a base pass!!
Sis Rose didn't because she left her license at the library but don't worry because the Zone Leaders were in town and they retrieved it!
Then the ZLs took us to District Meeting because we didn't have a car and the church is in D'Iberville!
Elder Smith and Elder Bennett are awesome! We had a party in their van! They drive a minivan and I still think that that is hilarious! Because it is.
District meeting was also really good.

Thursday: We saw Lisa and Sydney and they flat out told us that they are considering being baptized! Lisa told us that when she went to her church services, she felt something missing. She didn't feel full.
The Apostasy really happened guys!
Then Sydney came in and said that the only reason she stayed in the other church was because of this old sick lady that she is best friends with, and she said that once she is gone Sydney is coming to Church because she love The Church!

Friday: Um, well we spent Friday trying to find an urgent care that was open....my neck has still been bothering me so I decided to FINALLY go to the doctor.
We finally found one that was open and the doctor told me that I have a neck sprain. He gave me some stuff and also told me to do some stuff (like heat and stuff which I had already been doing) then sent me on my merry way.
I will be better soon.
For dinner we went to the Dickens! The only thing I really know about them is that Sister Dickens is from Austria and Brother Dickens may have served his mission there....
Also Sister Dickens is teaching me how to crochet. Now I can officially be a good woman/grandma!

Saturday: I was feeling particularly woozy that day so we didn't do much.
I am a hindrance to the work.
We did however go to Beth's house and while we were over there she decided to make a breakfast for dinner so we ate dinner there!
Then we had a good conversation about some gospel related things that have slipped my mind because of the stuff....
Then Lisa came and picked us up. That woman hates it when we walk! She always gets really frustrated when she finds out that we have been walking. She is so sweet! Lisa was excited when we called her and asked her for a ride.
The rest of the night I rested....

Sunday: We had a really good day at church! Lisa and Sydney came and they both said that they loved it AND they both fasted!! Lisa is really warming up to the ward which is really important for her conversion!

We also had the best Gospel Essentials lesson EVER! It was so good we were all feeling the Spirit!
sweaty me on the way to the library!

The Weirdest week ever!

Well this has a been a strange week in Biloxi....
I know that I say that a lot but this HAS been a very strange transfer.
I will start on Monday because I think something happened everyday this week.

Monday.
After emailing, the Ishees came and we spent the day traveling Biloxi going to all the souvenir shops!
We literally went to all of the souvenir shops, it was fun!
I love the Ishees!

I'm in a shark

I am still in a shark. i could be on shark week.

Alligator jerky is delicious! (I tried and tried to turn the picture, but it was too stubborn - lj)
Tuesday
We went to the DMV and FINALLY got a license! Yay! It only took us 4 tries!
Then we went the visit Beth and helped plan for her baptism!
Also we went to visit Tilly, who is a less active who lives near Beth, and some little girls who live there in the same apartment complex are convinced that I am Elsa....they crazy!
They even asked me if I could "make" stuff.

You all would be proud to know that I played along and told that that I couldn't use my icy powers in the humidity....they bought it, but they also think that I am Elsa.
I tried to convince them that I wasn't Elsa once...that didn't work out.
Oh well I will just be Elsa.

Wednesday. *ching* *ching* *ching*
(Please do not freak out to anything you are about to hear. I am fine and am on the up and up. If you will freak out or know that you will please remember your breathing exercises. Remember God loves you and that the Atonement is for everyone. Also if you do freak out do it in such a way that results in me getting a package. Just kidding ;)
So it started out as an innocent Wednesday and we were going to the Woolmarket Elder's apartments so we could save on miles for District Meeting.
We were in the car going to DM with Elder Tenifa (driving) and Elder Roberts (passenger), I was behind Roberts, and Rose was behind Tenifa....obviously.
We were on the freeway (DON'T FREAK OUT) just talking away, when this guy darted across the busy freeway!!
Yeah...he was running from the cops, and we all know that that is the first sign of guilt.
Well he crossed safely but I was looking behind to see the cops chasing him (I didn't see any but that will become obvious why I didn't pretty soon)
When that guys ran across the road the car in front of us naturally slowed down, so we did too.
Then we sped back up, so we did too.
Guys behind us wasn't paying attention.

Girls and boys, you should always wear a seat belt (but you should already know that and be doing that) and always stay facing forward in a car....
I saw the car behind getting really close! (The driver was trying to see the convict guy)
When his vehicle crashed into us.
I was still sitting sideways. My head/face smacked against the headrest. (which didn't hurt in the slightest because it is the most cushiest headrest there has ever been) but then head bounced off of it and then Newton's third law kicked in.
We pulled over and the other driver came over to check to see if we were okay. (he was a doctor)

Anyway we were just chillin' there until the cop came and told us that the guy who ran across the road had already done that twice and they had been chasing him all day!
He needs Jesus.

Elders Ahanonu, Paxton, and Hughes came and they took us to the church for DM.
By this time the soreness from my whiplash was beginning to set in, so that kind of hindered the work this week....

me and the car wreck!

me with whiplash

Thursday.
I was SUPER stiff but I still tried to work as much as possible. We went out with Sister Peine (the RS pres) and went to see Lisa and Kee.
We had a good conversation about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We didn't stay long because well....my neck felt very stiff and I couldn't move it(I can now!)
We went home and rested because of my neck/spine was hurting.
After a little awhile, when I was feeling up to it (by the way I say "I" because I am the only one with whiplash or any kind of injury at all.) we went to visit Tilly and talked about the Plan of Salvation with her.
Then we had to talk to my many Elsa fans....children are strange.

Friday.
The sister training leaders came for exchanges.....
It was Sister Conder and Sister Bennett.
I was with Sister Conder so it was flashback Friday for me.
We tried some people but most of them were either not home or busy.
Too busy to hear about Jesus! NONSENSE!
We did go tracting until my spine felt like it was going to fall out.
We met a young girl named Mya Harris....young meaning she was 16.... we we taught her about the Book of Mormon and she accepted a copy and said she would read it and that we could go back! Yes!
After we did literally everything we could think of we went out to eat at this Mediterranean restaurant, reminisced about El Dorado, and then Sister Conder left.
flashback Friday

Saturday.
We went to the church bright and early in the morning....ok it was more like afternoon...we cleaned the baptismal font and got ready for Beth's baptism.
Then Beth was baptized!

Welcome to the fold of God, Beth!

Then we went home because we did a lot of things and those things made my body hurt.
                       Beth's baptism!
Elder Robinson, Sis Golder, Beth, me, Sister Rose

Sunday.
Beth was confirmed!
Lisa came to church!
Tilly came to church!
We also visited Shane with the Peines and that went well. Brother Peine answered all of Shane's Priesthood questions...because he has a lot of those.
Then we went home. This whiplash thing is getting old but I am still on the up and up and the stiffness is subsiding so all is well.

The Church is true. The Book of Mormon is awesome and a very spiritual book. Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. The Atonement is for everyone and is the greatest thing in this entire world.
I love you all!
Have a fantastic week!
